Summer interfering with Student studies?

As summer approaches, students seem to be worrying about vacation plans than studying for finals.

Kathie Phan, 21, a public relations major, is finishing up her classes as quick as possible so that she can get ready for summer since De Anza Spring quarter is ending soon.

Phan is one of many college students rushing to enjoy her summer as soon as school ends. Phan says she is dying to visit her plan vacations during her long summer break. Most students would have something in mind they would like to go to for the summer.

Steven Le, 21, a nursing major, said he’s excited to go to LA.

Le, has been cramming through his studies so that he can prepare saving up money to go to New York with his girlfriend. He’s excited about what he’s going to be doing in New York.

In recent research on ways to get ready for summer, conducted by Joanna Huagen.

“Plan one last family getaway or weekend activity to cap off an awesome summer vacation… Make sure you leave at least a few full days between the end of this getaway and the first day of school.”

Alvin Du, 22, biochemistry Major, said he thinks going far away from school would help relieve stress on students after school. Due to the fact that the students wouldn’t ever had to worry anymore with finals or assignments to turn in.

“I feel as though going to somewhere far like LA or SF or a 2 hour road trip will really help students’ like me feel fully free of De Anza or school in general since we’re mostly just dealing with hard assignments and test,” Du said.

Like with other students, Alvin just wants to get ready to end the school year.

Phan, believes that if students fully focus on the fact that summer is near, then students won’t be able to do as well on assignments or test since that’s all they’ll be thinking about.

Tommy Nguyen, 21, a business major, said “ I think going to places like during the summer within San Jose could actually help students relieve stress than going far away since you’ll just be wasting gas or spending money on a plane trip.”

Tommy feels as though, students can get the same satisfaction with going somewhere far within San Jose such as Communication hills or something eventful like going to California Great America theme park.

Justin Yu, 21, a computer science major, a friend of Tommy, disagrees that going somewhere within San Jose won’t help students since “Not everyone is the same, and I’m sure if given the opportunity, they would rather be somewhere exotic for themselves.” Yu said.

Although Phan agrees with feeling the same satisfaction going around San Jose.

“Even though I love traveling, it’s best to save money sometimes.” Phan said. “As soon as I save enough money, I’ll do my best to actually travel far out of California.”
